PM greeted by Swedish PM Lofven on arrival at Stockholm airport

Modi also said that he, along with Prime Minister Löfven, will meet renowned CEOs from Sweden and have deliberations with them on subjects related to trade and investment.

The Prime Minister landed in Sweden and conveyed thanks to his Swedish counterpart on Twitter for the welcome reception at the airport. "Sweden has been a major supporter in India's Make in India programme.PM Löfven had praised this agenda and had said that Sweden will help in whatever way possible during his last trip to India". He said the two sides had issued a joint action plan as well as signed an innovation partnership.

He said innovation, investment, start-ups, manufacturing etc.are the key aspects of cooperation between India and Sweden. "I will be focusing on enhancing India-UK partnership in the areas of healthcare, innovation, digitisation, electric mobility, clean energy, and cyber security", the prime minister said. In the defence sector, Sweden has been India's partner from a long time. He said that the two countries have shared a healthy relationship in this sector in past and many new opportunities will present themselves in future also.

"We have made a decision to strengthen relations as far as cyber security is concerned", the prime minister announced. "We have been closely cooperating on the worldwide platform and this will continue". He said there has been an intensification of cooperation in areas such as green technology and smart cities.

"The innovation partnership represents a step-change in India-Sweden science and innovation collaboration, underpinning our mutual commitment to drive prosperity and address global challenges such as climate change and sustainable development through innovation", it said. He further added, "This agreement would be an important step forward to deepen our bilateral cooperation in the defence domain".

Kholm: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived here on Monday evening as a part of his three-nation tour of Europe that includes Britain and Germany. He undertook a short walk with his Swedish counterpart Stefan Lofven in Stockholm.

During Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Sweden for India-Nordic Summit, both the countries agreed to work on a deal for strengthening their relations in terms of defence co-operation.
