  • Comedian Michelle Wolf roasts absent Donald Trump at White House Correspondents' dinner

"I'm not suggesting she gets hurt".

"He's helped you sell your papers, and your books and your TV", she said.

The "winners", so to speak, might be Wolf and President Trump. Sanders was sitting just a few seats away from Wolf at the podium during the monologue and did not seem pleased.

Wolf also took on Fox News and CNN, Trump's favorite media punching bag.

The organization's leader said she regretted that Michelle Wolf's routine may end up defining an evening that was created to rally around journalism. "I think she's very resourceful", the comedian said last night.

Last night at the 2018 White House Correspondents' Dinner, comedian Michelle Wolf laced into the usual clan of government officials, however, her best rips were saved for Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders. And so to think that something like this dinner encapsulates or represents the problem, I don't think is quite true. "It's not just the White House", Scaramucci said on "Reliable" Sunday. "I look forward to locking you all up in the coming years!" Conservative commentator Mercedes Schlapp called Wolf "twisted" in a tweet and said she was "appalled" by the the attacks on Sanders.

Wolf's jokes, especially one of the remarks about Sanders, have sparked may debate online. We want people in the - we want an openness with the White House. It lets them double down on their, either elites are persecuting us story line.

"Good lord people, it was a stand-up act. Like a porn star says when she's about to have sex with Trump, let's get this over with", the first of many bawdy insults.

However, he and members of his administration were eviscerated by comedian Michelle Wolf in a raunchy tirade that diverged sharply from the evening's traditional entertainment.

Wolf went on to mock everything from her truthfulness to her appearance and Southern roots, in a roast that had some in the audience laughing and left others in stony silence. Stephen Colbert's attacks on George W. Bush in 2006 spring to mind.

In a series of tweets, journalist Glenn Greenwald criticized the event but commended Wolf for her comedy routine, declaring that she "was hilarious & struck exactly the right tone from start to finish".

Prominent journalists from the New York Times, CNN, Politico and others took home prestigious awards.

CNN's Jeff Zeleny replied and agreed with Baker: "So much important and unbelievable journalism this year - that should be the focus, when truth matters and is needed more than ever".

Meg Kinnard, a reporter with The Associated Press, expressed a similar concern.

The dinner also features the presentation of journalism awards. "And those of us based in the red states who work hard every day to prove our objectivity will have to deal with it". Her job is *exactly* like Aunt Lydia: she is the frowning female enforcer for a fascist patriarchal society, punishing those who resist her lies.it has a tinge of the looks element, but that's not the point of the joke, at all-it's aimed at her job. What were you expecting? "Like. I think you might be rich in Idaho, but in NY you're doing fine".

The crowd laughed, not knowing what was to come.

Talev said that, by tradition, the association does not review the comedian's monologue before it is delivered.
