ABC and ‘Roseanne’: Many warning signs before racist tweet

She cited Ambien again in a later tweet, saying, "Not giving excuses for what I did (tweeted) but I've done weird stuff while on ambien - cracked eggs on the wall at 2am etc". "I'm exhausted of being attacked & belittled more than other comedians who have said worse".

It isn't for everybody however; the video warns users not to take it if they've ever wondered why there isn't a white history month, used the phrase 'I'm not racist but, ' or if they've tweeted racist things to their boss in the past.

That "joke" caused ABC to cancel Barr's show in record time, leaving her out of a job before the close of business Tuesday. They divorced in 1994 after Barr fired him.

Meanwhile, Barr insisted she is not racist.

"While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication", tweeted the French pharmaceutical giant in an acerbic post that quickly went viral.

Pulled off air over a racist tweet, USA sitcom star Roseanne Barr has blamed her outburst on a sleeping pill - prompting a swift retort Wednesday from pharma giant Sanofi which stated, deadpan, that its drugs do not cause racism. "When I read her social media, in the very beginning..."

"I'm not a racist, I never was & I never will be", Barr tweeted Wednesday, attempting to defend herself against an onslaught of criticism.

Through her selection of retweets, Barr implied that she was sacked over her support for President Trump.

The French pharmaceutical giant Sanofi was quick to push back - trolling Barr in an acerbic post that quickly went viral.

Barr compared Jarrett to "Planet of the Apes" and the Muslim Brotherhood, then claimed she was just joking.

Even with Barr having issued an apology for her comment, it's unlikely that the series could continue on another network and still hit the same level of ratings that it was at before her comment, as the outcry against her has been quite significant.

Barr also continued to tweet about George Soros, a liberal donor who has been painted as the villain in many right-wing conspiracy theories.

Trump picked up on that comment in his tweet on Wednesday.

In this photo taken on January 8, 2018, actress Roseanne Barr attends the Disney ABC Television TCA Winter Press Tour in Pasadena, California.

Barr also said her firing "worked out" because she "would leave when they started to try to censor me". A way to keep the cast and crew together in some way?

- Will President Trump comment at all?

He said he hoped "Roseanne seeks the help she so clearly needs".
