In a must-win match, Mumbai chased down the target of 175 to beat Punjab by six wickets at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on Friday. But the left-handed batsman, who is still searching his form in the tournament, was involved in a mixup with his batting partner Karun Nair at the other end and ran himself out. His 42-ball knock was laced with six boundaries and three sixes. Gayle has looked in remarkable touch in the tournament and has three half centuries to his name in just the 4 outings- giving the Punjab side a ideal start each time he has come on to bat.

Following Mumbai batsmen could not actually score big but the 20s scored by each of Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya and Rohit Sharma kept the game moving. The bowlers have been doing a decent job for the team and R Ashwin has been an astute and smart leader. Suryakumar targeted Rajpoot again by hitting a six and a four in consecutive balls to reach his fifty in 34 balls.

However, Gayle's innings only included two sixes - down on his average of six per stint in the middle this season - and his performance was not enough to earn victory for the Kings XI.

In addition to Krunal's unbeaten 31, Hardik Pandya chipped in for the Indians with 23 from 13 deliveries. But the onslaught came from Krunal Pandya as he hit Stoinis for two fours off consecutive balls and ended the over with a huge six over deep mid-wicket.

MI's thrilling chase came after the heroics of Chris Gayle, who continued his explosive run in this IPL with a 50 off 40 balls to lay the foundation for Kings XI Punjab's challenging total of 174 for six.

Gayle collected just one run off the first eight balls he faced before racing to his half century, his fourth fifty-plus score in five innings this season.

After 6 overs KXIP 49/0.

WICKET! Mayank Markande finally gets the breakthrough, as he removes KL Rahul for 24. Yuvraj Singh was promoted to number three spot to join Gayle at the crease.

There is also reasonable doubt over Yuvraj Singh's inclusion in today's game, as he had been dropped for the last game too. That has put enormous pressure on Jasprit Bumrah (9 wickets at an economy rate of 7) and Hardik (11 eickets at 8.74). Bumrah especially was brilliant conceding just 19 runs in four overs, while taking the wicket of Axar. The 22-run last over from Hardik made all the difference with Stoinis smashing him for two sixes and as many fours.
