Klay Thompson #11 of the Golden State Warriors reacts after scoring a three-point basket against the Houston Rockets during Game Six of the Western Conference Finals in the 2018 NBA Playoffs at ORACLE Arena on May 26, 2018 in Oakland, California.

The Golden State Warriors finished the first quarter of Monday's Game 7 in Houston down by five points. But with Paul out, that thinking led Mike D'Antoni to playing Harden for the entire third quarter in Game 6. Still, the odds are against them; they may have to win without Chris Paul, their superstar point guard who is a game-time decision with a hamstring strain. After the break, Houston was outscored 64-25 and it only scored nine points in the fourth quarter. James Harden led the way with 32 points.

This was further evidence that the Rockets, in this game and actually for the series so far, refuse to concede anything and believe this West title is realistic even with Paul's status uncertain.

The Rockets scored 39, 22, 16 and 9 points in each of the four quarters of game six.

Thompson's latest piece of work helped awaken the Warriors from being trapped in an extended state of stun, courtesy of how fierce the Rockets came at them right from the start. The Rockets responded to a 41-point loss in Game 3 - the most lopsided playoff loss in franchise history - by winning the next two games to put the defending-champion Warriors on the brink of elimination.

A source told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne that Paul's hamstring injury is a Grade 2.

In one atrocious stretch during the third and four quarter, the Rockets missed 26 3-pointers in a row. The Rockets had to play their starters heavy minutes and they just ran out of gas in the second half. Given the nature of the stakes, Curry will have to bring his A game to this juggernaut fight, ensuring he makes the most of his opportunities after missing plenty of wide-open looks during the last few games. They opened with an 11-0 run to spark a dominant second half that made National Basketball Association history.

The Rockets will need to try and figure out a way to survive without Paul.

Warriors guard Patrick McCaw, who returned on Saturday from a two-month absence caused by a lower-back injury, is listed as probable for Game 7.

"The guy's a machine", Warriors coach Steve Kerr said.

On Sunday, LeBron James dropped 35 points and lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to it's fourth consecutive NBA Finals, his 8th consecutive appearance overall.
