  • Anthony Bourdain, Chef And TV Personality, Dead At 61

The former No Reservations host and Busia were married for nine years before splitting in 2016 and shared daughter Ariane, 11.

Anthony Bourdain is being mourned, of course, by fellow chefs and foodies for his sardonic exposés about what really happens in the kitchens of some of America's best restaurants. "Any stranger who shows an honest curiosity about what the locals think is the best food is going to be welcomed". The two of them had been in the area because they were shooting an episode of Bourdain's show.

"His friend was waiting at breakfast, and waiting and waiting", Mr. Voinson said.

Meanwhile, the TV star's camera crew had set up to film at an outdoor market in nearby Strasbourg.

Ripert allegedly had a hotel receptionist unlock the hotel room door. He used the belt from his bathrobe to hang himself.

Closer to home, Bourdain was an early supporter of #MeToo, noting he'd met several women who'd told him very bad stories of abuse.

Bourdain's apparent suicide comes just days after designer Kate Spade, who built a fashion empire on her signature handbags, took her own life in her NY apartment.

"What I do is not complicated", Bourdain told the New York Times in 2005. "I started taking drugs as soon as I encountered them", the chef said.

'He was an incredible guy.

Lotti plans to dine at the Chambard's restaurant, and "I will have a thought about him".

People around the world are paying their respects.

Anthony Bourdain's appeared to be in a "dark mood" in the days leading up to his death, according to the chef Eric Ripert, a close friend who eventually found Bourdain dead in his hotel room in the Alsace region of France.

"Parts Unknown", which premiered in 2013, followed Bourdain as he traveled the world, uncovering lesser-known cuisines in unique corners of the world.

Bourdain said he spent about 250 days a year on the road - but wasn't planning on retiring from his globetrotting life any time soon.

In a piece published for CNN, Bourdain wrote about his memorable dinner and interview with the (then) President, saying "I can tell you that Barack Obama was, in spite of having had a high-ranking leader of the Taliban whacked in Pakistan a few days previous, very relaxed and at ease".

Speaking to The Guardian in January 2017, Bourdain reflected on his chaotic life in the kitchens, saying he had finally "put aside my psychotic rage, after many years being bad to line cooks, abusive to waiters, bullying to dishwashers".

"I knew a lot of women, it turned out, who had stories about their experience, about people I knew", he said. Argento said she was "beyond devastated" by his death and asked for privacy both for herself and his family.
