Ghana football boss resigns after being banned by FIFA

Kwesi Nyantakyi, who is also a member of the FIFA Council, was seen in a hotel room taking a $65,000 bribe from a supposed businessman seeking to sponsor the Ghanaian football league for up to $15 million over three years.
Mr Nyantakyi has not replied to multiple requests for comment while the GFA has said it would cooperate with any investigation. Ministers and Deputy Ministers of State for indiscretion in associating them with the private conversations on the video.
After watching parts of the documentary last month, Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo asked police to investigate Nyantakyi, and the soccer official was arrested.
"I wish to clarify that at no time prior to or subsequent to any deliberations on the video did I consult, contact or inform any government official about discussions on the video. This is by no means an admission of wrongdoing for issues on the video".
Per the ban, Mr Nyantakyi was relieved of his duties at CAF and Federation Internationale de Football Association.
This action follows after Anas released the investigative documentary, titled 'Number 12: on Wednesday showing over 70 referees and other football officials taking bribes before games with the intention of manipulating the outcomes of the games and selections.
BBC reports that Ghana's information minister Mustapha Abdul-Hamid said the government had "decided to take immediate steps to have the GFA dissolved", citing the "widespread nature of the apparent rot".
The statement added that the government will announce provisional measures to govern football until a new body is formed, and that it would inform FIFA and the Confederation of African Football of its decision.
