Liverpool have allegedly reached a deal to sign Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir.

Talks have been ongoing, but a power play emerged from Lyon's side, with president Jean-Michel Aulas hoping to lure other bidders into the reckoning.

Fekir will take his medical on Friday, and it is now expected that the transfer will be completed before France leave for the World Cup.

Fekir is due to undergo a Liverpool medical at Clairefontaine, the France national team's training base, before signing terms on Friday. "The deal will certainly not be closed during the World Cup and I don't think there will be any change before the World Cup".

However, L'Equipe have offered Liverpool fans a boost before the global tournament that kicks off next week, with the French outlet claiming that a deal is very close to being complete.

Liverpool have wasted no time in strengthening their midfield ranks having already signed Fabinho from Monaco and Naby Keita Red Bull Leipzig.

The 24-year-old is part of the France squad for the upcoming World Cup.

'We haven't set a starting price because we haven't discussed that yet'. Fekir is set to play for France on Saturday evening against the U.S., a game that will take place in Lyon's Stade des Lumieres.

The Independent report that Aulas believes that Liverpool will have to calculate the potential of summer performance into their offer. They have also registered interest in Xherdan Shaqiri, who is available for £12m-£13.5m after Stoke City's relegation from the Premier League.
