Mohamed Salah put aside his highly publicized troubles to score another World Cup goal.

Egypt failed to advance to the knockout stage of the World Cup after losing all three of their group-stage matches.

Salah, who was seemingly rested for his country's opening game against Uruguay after returning from a shoulder injury, thanked the team's supporters for coming out in numbers and vowed to improve for the 2022 showpiece.

"I thank Egyptian fans for our support during the World Cup", Salah told beIN Sports after the game, addining " I know it is hard for them but it was also hard for us".

"We were always informed by Salah when he takes any decisions", said the statement.

"The Egyptian team does not have prior experience of the World Cup". "I want to apologize to you from all my heart".

Mohamed Salah scores Egpyt's goal against Saudia Arabia at Volgograd Arena on June 25, 2018.

After the Saudis scored their injury-time victor on Monday, Salah pulled his jersey up over his face.

"Maybe he was not able to do what he normally does, what we're used to, but he scored", Egypt coach Hector Cuper said of Salah.

Salah's 22nd-minute goal was a typical effort that his fans have grown accustomed to.

The 26-year-old controlled a long ball over the top with one touch of his left boot at pace and did not break stride before lobbing a deft finish with the same foot over the onrushing goalkeeper Yasser Al-Mosailem.

Mo Salah is considering quitting the Egyptian national team due to his unhappiness over what has happened in Chechnya, where the team was based during the World Cup at Russian Federation 2018, a source close to the Liverpool forward has told CNN.

Subsequently Kadyrov made Salah an honorary citizen of the Chechen Republic.

Kadyrov, a former rebel who switched his loyalties to Moscow, faces accusations of gross human rights violations, including abductions and killings.
